No prior experience is required to join. If you are interested in joining the staff or would like to submit an idea or contribute a photo, please email yearbook@mills.edu. The Mills Academic Research Journal (MARJ) is the first journal focused on research on the Mills College campus. MARJ is an annual online publication that began in the spring of 2010. The goal of MARJ is for Mills students to have the opportunity to have substantial research published as an undergraduate student. All majors are open to apply. The Walrus is an annual publication featuring short stories, poetry, and artwork by Mills students. This publication is an opportunity for students interested in writing, editing, publishing, or graphic design to experiment in their craft. Founded in 1992, The Womanist, A Women of Color Journal, is an annual publication featuring prose, poetry, and artwork by students, alumnae, faculty, and staff of color. The publication is compiled and edited by a group of Mills students. The Womanist provides an opportunity for women of color at Mills to critically and creatively share stories of celebration and resistance. The Womanist staff assist self-identified women of color in refining their skills in organizing, writing, editing, and graphic design. 580 Split, an annual journal of arts and literature, publishes innovative and experimental prose, poetry, and art and was founded specifically for graduate students to participate and hone skills in editing, publishing, and creative writing. The journal has expanded its presence in the Bay Area and can be found in such bookstores as Cody’s and City Lights. It is also one of the few literary journals carried by the Oakland Public Library. |
